Welcome to
Studio28Mosaics
Unique, handcrafted, colourful mosaics and jewellery.
It is now 6 years since I first started creating mosaics and I learnt a lot along the way and enjoyed all aspects of the mosaic process.
However, in early 2019 just as I had started incorporating stained glass into my mosaics, I managed to injure myself through too much use of the tile nippers, alongside over-enthusiastic gardening and put my right arm out of action for a painful 6 months! It was clear I couldn't risk doing that again, and somewhat reluctantly I accepted something had to change. So, now after a good deal of reflection and experimentation, I am working on much smaller scale mosaics - namely pendants, with no cutting involved. I use a mixture of glass tile, bead and natural materials such as slate and semi-precious stones and some metal pieces to make colourful and unique very affordable pendants.
I have always loved jewellery, and I am now taking the transition away from mosaics just a little further, by exploring the amazing material which is silver clay. It is going to be a very steep learning curve, and who knows how it will turn out, but I am looking forward to exploring using this fascinating material in the hope that I can then create my own silver pieces.
I know I am lucky to have the freedom to spend time on activities I enjoy and appreciate that on a daily basis - and when I am not in the studio busy being "creative", I enjoy walking in the lovely Sussex countryside, or mucking out donkeys and goats (but that's another story)!
Please see the gallery sections for examples of my work. I still have some of the larger pieces available but all of my new work is jewellery.
2020 will be a year of learning new skills and experimentation, so I have not committed to lots of events, as I am not sure yet how things will progress!
I am a member of the Horsham Artists group - do take a look at the link below - they are a very talented and varied group. www.horshamartists.org
